Missy Gators roll past Greenville 27-6

“I feel like we did better than we did last week and we adjusted well,” freshman Aaliyah Mims said. “The energy was at an all-time high, and we’ve been growing every week.”

Mims opened the scoring for VHS, hauling in a 55-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Powell. Dallas West added the extra point on a short pass from Powell to make it 7-0.

Jakeyla Curry made her presence felt on defense with an interception, helping keep Greenville off the scoreboard. With 33 seconds left in the first half, West caught a touchdown pass from Powell to extend the lead to 13-0. West added another interception just before halftime.

West continued her defensive standout performance on the first play of the second half with another interception, giving the Missy Gators possession. Powell capitalized with a 25-yard touchdown run, and Jada Erwin caught the extra point pass to push the lead to 20-0.

Madison Bailey added a late interception for VHS. Backup quarterback Cam McGloster entered late and connected with Mims on a 40-yard touchdown pass. West caught the extra point to extend the lead to 27-0.

Greenville scored late on a long run, but the Missy Gators secured the 27-6 victory.
