Officer involved shooting in Collins

There has been an officer-involved shooting in Collins, Mississippi involving the Covington County Sheriff’s Department.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving the Covington County Sheriff’s Department that occurred on January 20th, 2024.

Deputies were responding to a call for service at a residence on Jack Flowers Road in Collins, Mississippi. Upon arrival at the residence, the subject began firing a weapon at the responding deputies, leading to an exchange of gunfire striking the subject.

The subject was transported to a local hospital. The deputies involved did not receive any serious physical injuries during this incident.
