Old Court House Museum hosts 42 annual Fall Flea Market tomorrow
VICKSBURG, MS – Tomorrow, Saturday, October 5 will mark the 42 year of downtown Vicksburg’s Fall Flea Market at the Old Court House Museum. The annual event has been a both an adored community event and fundraiser for the Old Court House Museum since 1982.
“It’s an opportunity for local artisans, businesses, and organizations to gather in historic downtown, sell their crafts, and just spend the day enjoying the charm of Vicksburg,” said Jordan Rushing, Director and Curator of the Old Court House Museum, “There is woodworking, antiques, pottery, jewelry, paintings, metal working, and toys, where each artist puts their own unique style into their work.”
Rushing said that alongside the craft vendors there will be a wide selection of food vendors selling chili, cheesecake, popcorn, sno-cones, tacos, funnel cakes, meat pies, and more.
Beginning at 10 a.m., the Debra Franco School of Dance will present selections from their Spring Dance Concert performing between the two courthouses.
“This marks our third year returning to the flea market since the coronavirus. We love having the opportunity to share our performances with the community!” said Debra Franco.
The Vicksburg Theatre Guild will also be at the market selling memberships for the current 2024-2025 season. The guild will be selling raffle tickets for a 50/50 split to help them replace their can-can costumes for Gold in the Hills, the Guinness World record holder for longest running melodrama.
“The Old Courthouse Flea Market is a great way for us to connect with the community and let people know how they can get involved—whether it’s supporting fundraisers, coming to performances, or auditioning for upcoming shows,” said Genevieve Rushing, Marketing Director for the Vicksburg Theatre Guild.
All proceeds raised from the rental of booth spaces benefit the Old Court House Museum, Vicksburg’s multicultural and most historic museum.
This event is free and open to the public. Gates open at 8 a.m. this Saturday, October 5th, and will go until 4 p.m.
