A Mississippi Student Has Died After An ATV Accident

NEWTON COUNTY, MS – A Newton County Municipal School District student student died after an ATV accident.

The deceased has been identified as Andrew Dukes Jr. by Coroner Rebecca Burton. The ATV accident happened on September 29 and Dukes was flown to the University of Mississippi Medical Center where he died on October 1.

Dukes fell off the back of the ATV which caused severe and fatal injuries.

The Newton County School District released a statement shortly after Dukes’ death.

“On behalf of the Board of Superintendent Dr. Glenda Nickson, and the entire Newton Municipal School District family, we extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers to the Dukes and Moncrief Family during this time.”
