One apprehended after shoplifting, hit and run and fleeing from police

One person is in police custody after shoplifting, hitting a vehicle, leaving the scene, and then fleeing on foot from the police.

Just before 10 a.m. this morning, the Vicksburg Police Department apprehended one person after a brief foot chase behind Vicksburg Junior High School.

The suspect was wanted in connection to a shoplifting incident at Tractor Supply on South Frontage. While fleeing from Tractor Supply, the individual hit a car in that lot and left the scene of the accident. A short time later, an alert Vicksburg Police Officer spotted the suspect vehicle. The suspect abandoned the vehicle behind the Vicksburg Junior High School and took off on foot.

They were captured shortly thereafter by the Vicksburg Police Department.
