Port Gibson baseball crushes South Pike 18-1

PORT GIBSON, Miss.(VDN) — The Port Gibson High School baseball team rolled to an 18-1 victory over South Pike on Tuesday, finishing the game with nine hits while erupting for 11 runs in the second inning.

The Blue Waves’ offense produced several highlights, including a two-run home run by Michael Evans. Akeem Wells and Jabraylin Johnson each added doubles in the win.

At the plate, Centrell Hedrick and Javion McGrew led the way as both players recorded two hits. Hedrick also drove in two RBIs, while McGrew finished with one RBI.

Evans added one hit and two RBIs, while Wells finished with one hit and one RBI. Braylon Carter contributed one hit and two RBIs, Nathan Jones recorded one hit and one RBI, and Johnson finished with one hit and one RBI. Kendarion Owens also produced one RBI for the Blue Waves.

On the mound, Evans threw a no-hitter and struck out five batters before Hedrick came in relief and also tossed a no-hitter while striking out two batters to secure the victory.
