Porters Chapel Academy edges Natchez High 6-5
VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — The Porters Chapel Academy baseball team pulled out a 6-5 victory over Natchez High School on Thursday night.
Natchez High School struck first, scoring two runs in the second inning to take an early lead.
Porters Chapel answered in the bottom half of the inning with three runs. The Eagles capitalized on two walks and an RBI from Landon McCollough to go in front 3-2.
The Bulldogs tied the game at 3-3 in the third inning. Both teams were held scoreless until the sixth, when Natchez used a bunt to drive in a run and reclaim the lead at 4-3.
PCA responded in the bottom of the sixth. McCollough delivered a double that brought in a run, and Thomas Antwine followed with a two-run double to give the Eagles a 6-4 advantage.
Natchez added one run in the seventh on a single to cut the deficit to 6-5, but PCA closed the door to secure the win.
Dax Haas led the Eagles at the plate with a double and two hits. Brayden Carr had one hit. McCollough finished with one hit and one RBI, while Antwine recorded one hit and two RBIs. Hunter Bates added one RBI.
On the mound, Antwine struck out five batters. Carr recorded four strikeouts, and Hancock finished with three strikeouts.
