Raymond Cheer Brings Home A National Championship

Story from Hinds CC:
RAYMOND, Miss. – The Hinds Community College Raymond Cheer Team captured the UCA National Championship in the Open Small Coed – Game Day division, delivering a show-stopping performance despite facing incredible challenges in the lead-up to the competition. With a score of 90.7 and zero deductions, Hinds edged out perennial powerhouse Coastal Alabama Community College, which finished second with a score of 90.6333.
Under the leadership of first-year head coach Kadin Adcox, who balanced the demands of her new role while caring for her newborn son, the team defied the odds. Just a week before the competition, Hinds suffered a significant setback when standout team member Chris Williamssustained an injury and couldn’t travel with the team. Despite this, the squad regrouped, adjusted their routine, and delivered a flawless performance on the national stage.
“This team is the epitome of resilience,” said Coach Adcox. “To face so many obstacles and still execute at this level speaks to their heart, dedication, and grit. As a new coach and a new mom, I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together.”
The championship is particularly special given the highly competitive nature of the division. Coastal Alabama, a consistent top performer, pushed Hinds to bring their absolute best, while East Mississippi Community College rounded out the top three with a score of 88.8.
The victory not only marks a milestone for the program but also sets a new standard for excellence at Hinds Community College. “This moment is about more than just a trophy,” Adcox added. “It’s about showing our student-athletes and community what’s possible when you commit to hard work and perseverance in the face of adversity.”
