Mississippi River Commission to hold public hearings

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) – The Mississippi River Commission (MRC) will host four public hearings from March 30 to April 4 as part of its annual high-water inspection trip along the Mississippi River. The hearings, held aboard the Motor Vessel Mississippi, will provide a platform for residents, stakeholders, and community members to discuss water resource infrastructure needs in the region.
Topics will include flood control, the Mississippi River and Tributaries project, and other water resource challenges. The hearings allow direct engagement between watershed interests, the public, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), fostering ongoing communication about critical issues affecting the river.
One of the hearings will be held on April 2, from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in Lake Providence, La. at the Lake Providence Port.
All hearings are open to the public. The MRC president will present a summary of national and regional issues impacting USACE programs and Mississippi River projects.
