Samantha Frith takes over as Head Ninth Grade Cheer Coach at Warren Central
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Samantha Frith has been named head coach of Warren Central’s ninth grade football cheerleading squad. She announced her new role earlier this month and has already stepped into her responsibilities leading the program.
“I wanted to get back into coaching because I’ve always loved sports,” Frith said. “My mom also coached here, and I wanted to be a leader and help these girls like my coaches did when I was in high school.”
Frith, a 2009 Vicksburg High School graduate, cheered throughout her high school career before attending Mississippi State University. She earned degrees in educational psychology and elementary education.
As she takes on her new coaching role, Frith said her focus is on making the season memorable for her team. “My plan is to let them be a ninth grade squad and enjoy freshmen football and basketball,” she said. “I’m looking forward to building bonds with them.”
Fans saw the squad in action for the first time under Frith during Warren Central’s 46-14 win over Northwest Rankin on Thursday.
In addition to coaching, Frith teaches first grade at Redwood Elementary.
