Former Warren Central educator Ashley Smylie was shot and killed in her Rankin County home last night. According to the father, Smylie was killed by her 14-year-old daughter.

According to numerous reports, the daughter shot and killed the mother at their home on Ashton Way in the Farmington Station Subdivision in Brandon. Just after 5 p.m., the father of the 14-year-old arrived home to find his wife deceased from a gunshot wound. The daughter had a gun and shot the father in the shoulder. He was able to wrestle the weapon away from the daughter, who then fled from the home.

About 30 minutes later, law enforcement found the daughter near the home. She was taken into custody and is currently in the Rankin County Juvenile Detention Center being held for murder and attempted murder.
