South Street Fire early Friday morning; no injuries reported

VICKSBURG, Miss. – A fire on South Street early Friday morning was quickly extinguished, limiting damage to the home. No injuries were reported, according to Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps.
“At 1:22 a.m., the Vicksburg Fire Department received a call reporting a structure fire at 1612 South Street. When firefighters arrived, they encountered heavy smoke. They quickly made an interior attack, entering the residence and efficiently extinguishing the flames. This prompt action limited the damage to the structure. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, and the situation was resolved without further incidents,” said Stamps.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
