VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Hayden McDougal was recognized by the Warren County Fire Service for his efforts to serve his community.

At an annual event held to recognize Warren County Fire Service members, McDougal and his fellow firefighters were rewarded for their efforts in the past year. The annual celebration allows the firefighters to fellowship, highlight memories from the past year, and be recognized by their fellow firefighters for their efforts. Close to fifty people attended this year’s event, including family members, community supporters, and the firefighters themselves.

The celebration included a rotating loop of photos from the year, highlighting some of the strongest memories from the past 12 months. Russell Sumrall cooked the crawfish, which included sausage, Brussels sprouts, potatoes, and corn on the cob. Hamburgers, hot dogs, treats, banana pudding, and soft drinks were also provided for the firefighters.

In a spirited ceremony, Chris Kennedy awarded firefighters for their efforts in the past year. Hayden McDougal was named the “Top Responder” of the year, having responded to an amazing 480 calls for help. Zachary Hearn, Hunter Ivey, Karl McCaffrey, Jerry Briggs, Neal Pryor and several other firefighters were publicly acknowledged for serving their community.

After the awards ceremony, a raffle of prizes donated by community businesses and supporters was held.
