St. Aloysius Run-Ruled Jackson Academy 13-1 in a Tuesday Night Win

St. Aloysius softball team took down Jackson Academy in four innings on Tuesday night in a 13-1 win.

“We came to play and it showed,” Kyleigh Cooper said. “I’m really proud of the team and we backed Mallory up wonderfully and we did what we came to do,” she added.

The Lady Flashes went up 4-0 in the first inning after Madison Spencer, Mallory Spencer, and Presley Brister all hit doubles. Kyleigh Cooper singled to bring in the first run. Madison Spencer and Cooper both singled in the second but the score remained the same.

St. Al had a 12-1 lead by the end of the third after Britton hit a two-run single while Madelyn Kavanaugh, Landy Elqadi, Cooper, and Mageigh Haller all racked up singles. Haller earned a steal at home and the Lady Flashes also had four walks in the inning. 

The Lady Flashes put the game away in the fourth inning after Cooper hit her fourth single and eventually stole home plate to end things at 13-1

Mallory Spencer pitched all four innings where she only allowed two hits while striking out five batters. Cooper had a perfect game at the plate where she went 4 for 4 with one RBI and three runs. Mallory(2 RBIs) and Madison Spencer both went 2 for 3 while Kavanaugh(1 RBI) went 2 for 4. Britton(2 RBIs), Brister(1 RBI), Haller, and Elqadi(1 RBI) all had one hit. Lynlee McMillin also hit an RBI.

St. Al collected a total of 14 hits in the win.

“We finally got our bats turned on and this will motivate us for our upcoming games,” Madison Spencer said. “Just knowing some people were out today forced us to step up and show out as a team.”

St. Al will travel to face Jackson Prep on Wednesday.
