VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Bumper’s Drive-In on Highway 27 in Vicksburg shuttered its doors recently, but according to the founder and CEO, Doc, it is only temporary.

In a phone interview with the Vicksburg Daily News, Doc said the location was shuttered due to staffing challenges, particularly following the departure of the restaurant’s general manager about four months ago. After quality and performance issues with their replacement and no one to run the store, the company decided to close the location until a new General Manager can be hired and trained.

Doc also said that the rest of the Bumper’s staff was offered positions in Yazoo and Jackson until a replacement can be found.

“Nobody feels as bad as we do,” said Doc. “But when you get to the point that the person we were trusting to take care of the guests doesn’t take care of the guests, and doesn’t get along with the employees, what do you do?”

Doc encouraged anyone who is interested to apply for the position.

“We’re looking for a new general manager. We can pay them around $50,000,” Doc said. “We also pay a monthly bonus and offer health insurance with Blue Cross Blue Shield, where we cover 80% of the cost. I’m on the same policy. We also offer paid vacation after twelve months, what we’re offering is not peanuts. If you know of anybody, let us know, and we can come talk to them or they can come to our office in Canton.”
