VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A good Samaritan pulled a 33-year-old woman from a fire on Standard Hill Tuesday morning, according to Warren County Fire Chief Jerry Briggs.

At around 8 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, Warren County Fire and Rescue responded to a structure fire with visible smoke in the 600 block of Standard Hill Drive.

The man—later identified as Jesse Dickenson—pulled Misty Grantham out of a bedroom window to safety and left as the fire department was arriving on scene.

Grantham was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation and a foot injury, according to family members.

“We can’t thank him enough for stopping and saving her,” said Grantham’s mother, Pauline Vessell.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
