After the 2014 season, Schoonover’s family moved to Dothan, Alabama where she continued her softball career at Rehobeth High School where they finished as runner-ups in the AHSAA State Championship Softball Tournament in 2016 and 2019. She also was the 2019 5A Pitcher of the Year in the state of Alabama and received All-Area and All-State honors.

Eventually signing with Kentucky, Schoonover went on to receive the national pitcher of the week award twice as well as being a 3x SEC pitcher of the week. She also set a Kentucky record for single-game strikeouts with 18 against #24 North Texas and a single-game strikeout record against Missouri with 15 strikeouts.
