Storms on Sunday; Winter Weather Headed Our Way Later in the Week
VICKSBURG, Miss – Storms and winter weather are headed to the Vicksburg/Warren County area over the next few days.
The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a severe weather advisory for the Vicksburg area. On Sunday, Severe thunderstorms will be likely in the afternoon into Sunday evening. These storms may include damaging wind gusts as high as 60 mph, possible tornadoes, and hail as large as 1 inch in diameter. The weather is projected to hit Vicksburg around 5pm and will remain a threat until about 11 p.m.
On Tuesday, winter weather will hit the Vicksburg area with dangerous cold temperatures forecast. The cold weather will remain in our area throughout the week. North of Warren County Arctic air with wind chills down to 15 degrees could occur. Prolonged exposure to cold weather could lead to hypothermia. Exposed water pipes are in danger of freezing and may burst.
