Below is her letter:
Thank you!
Our Vicksburg Juneteenth Heritage Festival Committee labored hard and long to host our enlightening Sixth Annual Juneteenth Celebration at Halls Ferry Park on Saturday, June 14.
Citizens of Vicksburg and surrounding communities gathered to reflect on and discuss our history, enjoy great entertainment, witness the talents of our babies, eat good food, and fellowship. We are grateful for the support provided by our three major sponsors—City of Vicksburg, Visit Vicksburg, and International Paper—and numerous other agencies, businesses, fraternities, sororities, organizations, and individuals.
To the Vicksburg Post, Vicksburg Daily News, and Mississippi Public Broadcasting, we feel fortunate to have your support. We are thankful for our vendors who add special “flavor” to our celebration year after year.
Sheriff Pace, Chief Jones, and your dedicated officers, GOD bless you for your presence and kindness.
We thank the bands, dance troupes, DJs, musicians, poets, quartets, soloists, speakers and other program participants for sharing their talents and engaging our more than 300 guests of all ages and ethnicities. To the youth in our community, we love you and pledge to continuously keep you in the loop concerning our history and the significance of an annual Juneteenth celebration.
Thank GOD for the rain that visited us throughout the day to cool us off.
Juneteenth commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement. It is a day, a week, and in some areas a month marked with celebrations, guest speakers, cookouts, and family gatherings. It is a time for reflection, rejoicing, assessment, self- improvement, and planning.
Our Vicksburg Juneteenth Heritage Festival Committee is gearing up for our June 13, 2026, celebration. GODspeed as we celebrate and journey together.
Much Love,
BOBBIE BINGHAM MORROW
