Story from Hinds CC Athletics:

Tremayne Russell starts his first season as Assistant Coach for the Bulldogs. The Savannah, GA native is a former college basketball player who played as a guard for the Florida International University (FIU) Panthers from 2007 to 2011. Russell previously was an assistant at the University of Fort Lauderdale. 

Russell attended South Dade High School in Florida, where he was a standout player, earning All-Miami-Dade County honors and ranking among the top players in the county. He averaged 20 points per game in his senior year, along with three rebounds, five assists, and two steals.

During his college career at FIU, Russell appeared in 108 games, starting 14 of them. His career highlights include a career-high 20 points in a game against South Alabama and several double-digit scoring performances. 

Russell was known for his defensive skills and his ability to contribute significantly off the bench. Over his college career, he made notable contributions in terms of scoring, assists, and steals, and he ended his career ranked No. 6 all-time at FIU in games played (108). 

After his conclusion from college, Russell played professionally in Italy, Peru, and the Dominican Republic. Russell majored in criminal justice during his time at FIU.
