USM releases 2025 softball schedule

HATTIESBURG, Miss.-Southern Miss Softball head coach Natalie Pooleannounced the program’s 56-game schedule for the upcoming 2025 season Monday morning.

With less than three months remaining until the season’s first pitch in early February, Southern Miss awaits an exciting slate featuring 24 home games, including two home-hosted tournaments. On the road, the Golden Eagles will compete in 32 games across seven states, beginning their season on Feb. 7 in Clearwater, Fla. 

Marking the start of her third season at the helm of the program, Poole will lead the Golden Eagles through a challenging lineup in Clearwater at the NFCA Leadoff Classic, with matchups against Nebraska, Marshall, Pittsburgh, Kentucky and Northwestern from Feb. 7-9. The tournament marks the second consecutive season Southern Miss will launch their campaign in the Sunshine State. 

The Golden Eagles will make their home debut in a midweek showdown, hosting SEC foe Ole Miss on Wendesday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m.

Following the home opener, Southern Miss heads out on a Louisiana road trip, starting with the Louisiana Tech Tournament in Ruston from Feb. 14-16, where they will face Louisiana Tech, Arkansas and ULM. The team then travels to Baton Rouge for the LSU Tiger Invitational, competing against LSU, Nicholls and Penn State from Feb. 21-23.

Southern Miss returns to Hattiesburg on Feb. 26 to host Jackson State, kicking off a 12-game homestand. The Golden Eagles will host the Black & Gold Challenge featuring Louisiana Tech, UAPB, Jacksonville State and Lamar for a set of games from March 1-3.

The homestand continues with a midweek contest against Southeastern Louisiana on March 5, followed by the Golden Eagle Classic from March 7-9, where Southern Miss will take on North Dakota State, Detroit Mercy and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

After wrapping up the Golden Eagle Classic, the team heads to Montgomery to conclude its non-conference slate before heading to Statesboro, Ga. to take on Georgia Southern in a Sun Belt Conference matchup from March 14-16.

Returning to Hattiesburg, Southern Miss hosts Nicholls State on March 19 before welcoming Troy for their first Sun Belt home series from March 21-23.

A highlight of the season will follow on March 26, as the Golden Eagles take on Mississippi State at home for the first time in two seasons, with a 6 p.m. first pitch.

Southern Miss hits the road again to face South Alabama in Mobile from March 28-30, and then a midweek rematch with Nicholls State in Thibodaux, La. awaits the team on April 2.

The beginning of April brings a two-week home stand, with the Golden Eagles hosting ULM in a series from April 4-6, followed by Texas State from April 11-13.

The Golden Eagles’ longest road trip of the season takes them to Harrisonburg, Va., for a series against James Madison from April 17-19, a test that precedes their final home series of the season against App State from April 25-27.

Southern Miss will conclude their regular season on the road, squaring off against Louisiana in Lafayette from May 1-3.

The Sun Belt Conference Tournament will take place over four days in Troy, Ala. from May 7-10.
