Kyleigh Cooper Signs to Mississippi Delta CC
Vicksburg, Miss.-St. Aloysius star softball player Kyleigh Cooper has signed a collegiate scholarship to Mississippi Delta Community College. Cooper made it all official on Monday when signed her name on the dotted line.
“I’m so thankful for this opportunity and I feel like it’s going to be a great new chapter because I’ve always dreamed of being a college athlete,” Cooper said.
Cooper recently wrapped up her senior season at St. Aloysius where she had a .439 batting average, 25 hits, 11 RBIs, and threw over 60 strikeouts. She was also selected as VDN’s 2022 Softball Player of the Year as a freshman and made the All-County Team in each of her varsity years.
Four years ago when St. Aloysius was in desperate need of a pitcher, Cooper came in and changed the program in the best ways. The Lady Flashes went from a winless team to a playoff potential program where Cooper led them to the playoffs twice in the last four years. She ended her varsity career with a total of 534 strikeouts.
In 2023, Cooper helped St. Aloysius to their first playoff appearance in nearly 10 years which led her to receive her first scholarship offer to Mississippi Valley State University. She ultimately decided to take her talents to Mississippi Delta Community College where she will be playing for Coach Tre Hobbs.
“When I went for a visit, I felt right at home and I think they have a great coaching staff so I’m really excited to play for them,” Cooper said.
Cooper thanked the people closest to her for sticking with her through her softball career.
“I want to thank God along with all my coaches, friends, and family who all made an impact on my journey.”
