Five Gators to participate in All-Star Football Games
VICKSBURG, Miss. – Five members of the Vicksburg High School football team will represent the Gators in several All-Star Games: DeCorey Knight Jr., Christopher Lacey, Mickell Jones, Wallys Curry, and Willie Edmond. All five of the Gators football squad will participate in next month’s prestigious games, some as players, and one as as coach.
Knight accumulated nearly 1,200 rushing yards and broke Sylvester Stamps’ 1979 school rushing yards record. He now has a total of career 3,066 rushing yards(over 1,000 receiving yards) and 30 touchdowns as Jones and Edmond were two of his key blockers.
Knight will play in the Bernard Blackwell North/South All-Star Game on December 21 at Gulfport. Offensive linemen Jones and Edmond will play in the Magnolia Sports Association Senior Bowl while Lacey will serve as an assistant coach in the game. Curry(linebacker) will play in the sophomore game which will all be held on December 29 at East Central Community College.
