Vicksburg, Mississippi-Vicksburg High School boys’ basketball team crushed South Delta High School 73-33 on Friday night. Tonight’s win was the Gators’ biggest victory of the season as they improved to 6-6 on the year under Head Coach Kelvin Carter.

Brycen Jones contributed from the free throw line to start the game shortly before Javeion Perkins slammed a nasty dunk to tie the game at 11-11. The Gators mastered sharing the ball in the second quarter as Sedret Marshall and Marlyn Foy both hit key layups as VHS went up 28-18 at halftime. Amarion Sanders nailed a 3-pointer for SD to keep the game close in the first half.

The third quarter was the best for VHS as Jadarius Henderson and Kris Washington both came out knocking down 3-pointers. Jaquez Marshall came alive inside the paint to get on the board. The Gators scored 28 points alone in the third quarter and SD only put up 13.

Mincer Minor IV and Washington helped put the game away with 3-pointers as a running clock was enforced.

Jaquez Marshall led with 15 points and Henderson added 11. Jaquez Jones finished with nine points while Foy, Minor, and Perkins all scored eight points each. Sedret Marshall put up seven points and Brycen Jones added four.
