VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The man accused in Sunday’s fatal shooting outside of Waleed’s Gas Station was arraigned Tuesday in Vicksburg Municipal Court.

Just after 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, Vicksburg police responded to the gas station at Wisconsin Avenue and Bazinsky Road for a report of a shooting incident. The victim, 31-year-old Melvin Harris, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Vicksburg Police Deputy Chief Tommy Curtis said 26-year-old Christopher Troy Williams Jr. was arrested without incident. Authorities have not released details on what led to the shooting, citing an active investigation.

Williams appeared before Judge Angela Carpenter on Tuesday, where he was formally charged with first-degree murder. His bond was set at $2 million.
