VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A Vicksburg man charged with child molestation was denied bond Wednesday at his initial court hearing. Robert Dan Smith, 57, of Vicksburg is charged with three counts of child molestation.

Smith was taken into custody at 2 p.m. on March 11 at a Hailey’s Point address.

According to Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace, the Vicksburg Police Department initially received information regarding the case, but during the course of their investigation, it was determined that the alleged incidents occurred in Warren County. Lt. Stacy Rollison was notified, and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office has now taken the lead on this case, with assistance by the Vicksburg Police Department.

Smith appeared before County Court Judge Marcie Southerland, who denied bond. His case will be presented to the next Warren County Grand Jury.
