Vicksburg Native Barry Dillon is playing football at Incarnate Word

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Barry Dillon, a Vicksburg native and former Arlington High School standout, is making his mark on the football field at the University of the Incarnate Word.
Dillon, a defensive back, recently completed his redshirt freshman season with the Cardinals, appearing in nine games. During the 2024 season, he recorded nine total tackles, four pass deflections, and forced one fumble, contributing to a strong defensive unit. UIW finished the season with an impressive 11-3 record.
Though born in Vicksburg, Dillon moved to Texas and attended Arlington High School, where he showcased his athleticism and developed into a reliable defensive presence. Despite being under-recruited during his high school years, he signed with Incarnate Word in the spring of 2023.
Now heading into his redshirt sophomore season this fall, Dillon is expected to take on a larger role in the secondary. Coaches are hopeful that his continued development and experience will help bolster a unit that played a crucial role in the team’s success last season.
The Cardinals, a Division I FCS program based in San Antonio, Texas, have become a rising force in the Southland Conference. With Dillon talent and determination, he looks poised to be a key contributor as UIW sets its sights on another strong campaign.
As the 2025 season approaches, Dillon will be one to watch — a Vicksburg native proving himself on the college football stage.
