MONROE, LA(VDN). — Vicksburg native Gabrelle “Gabby” McLeod earned top honors Friday night at the Miss Louisiana Competition, taking home the Overall Fitness Award for the second consecutive year.

Competing as Miss Cane River, McLeod received the award during the preliminary rounds of the pageant and later shared her gratitude in a Facebook post last night.

“I am so blessed to have received Overall Fitness Preliminary again this year,” McLeod wrote. “I thank God every day for the outstanding trainer and coaches that He has given me. Forever proud, forever honored, forever blessed.”

This year’s recognition adds to an already impressive pageant résumé. In 2024, McLeod was named fourth runner-up during the final night of the Miss Louisiana Competition and was a Top 5 finalist. She also claimed both the Preliminary Health and Fitness Newcomer and Overall Fitness awards in her first year competing at the event.

McLeod’s success in pageantry is matched by her academic and athletic achievements. A graduate of River City Early College, she was also a standout track and field athlete at Warren Central High School. Her background in athletics and fitness has been a strong foundation in her pageant career, helping her earn recognition on the state stage.

With her continued success and strong work ethic, McLeod has quickly become a role model for young women in Vicksburg and beyond.

The Miss Louisiana Competition continues this weekend, where McLeod will compete for the state crown and the opportunity to advance to the Miss America stage.
