Vicksburg native Vantrel Reed receives All-Conference honors

SHREVEPORT, La. (VDN) — Vicksburg native and Louisiana State University in Shreveport baseball player Vantrel Reed has made the All-Red River Athletic Conference Team. Reed received First Team and Golden Glove honors while a total of 20 awards were handed out amongst his team.
Reed, a former Warren Central High School standout, has helped LSUS to a 48-0 record this season. He currently has a .387 with 53 hits and 48 RBIs.
The top-ranked LSU Shreveport Pilots continued their historic 2025 season with a dominant showing in this year’s Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) awards. The Pilots placed 11 players on the All-Conference First Team, three on the Second Team, six on the Gold Glove Team, and swept the conference’s top individual superlatives, including Player, Pitcher, and Newcomer of the Year.
First Team All-Conference Selections
Seven Pilots earned First Team honors in the field, led by Josh Gibson, who was also named the RRAC Player of the Year. Gibson, the Pilots’ third baseman, posted a staggering .441 batting average with 71 hits, 58 RBIs, a .545 on-base percentage, and a .671 slugging percentage across 161 at-bats.
Austin Gomm (1B) powered his way to a .414 batting average with 48 hits, 52 RBIs, a .493 OBP, and a .819 slugging percentage. Vantrel Reed (2B) hit .387 with 53 hits and 48 RBIs. Jose Sallorin (SS) was a steady force with 41 hits and 45 RBIs, hitting .333 with a .462 OBP. Anthony Swenda earned utility honors, batting .375 with 30 hits and a .713 slugging percentage.
Diego Aragon (Catcher) and Ryan Davenport (OF) rounded out the First Team positional group. Aragon hit .373 with 38 hits and 29 RBIs, while Davenport batted .423 with 63 hits and 35 RBIs.
The Pilots’ pitching staff was equally recognized for excellence. Isaac Rohde was named RRAC Pitcher of the Year after going 12-0 over 88 innings with a 1.84 ERA, 0.69 WHIP, and 114 strikeouts. Draven Zeigler(11-0, 1.53 ERA, 88 strikeouts) and Cobe Reeves (10-0, 1.96 ERA, 96 strikeouts) joined Rohde as First Team starters, with Reeves also earning the title of RRAC Newcomer of the Year. Closer Lex Meinderts added First Team honors as a reliever with 5 saves and a 2.63 ERA in 24 innings.
Second Team All-Conference Selections
Three more Pilots earned All-Conference Second Team recognition:
- Jackson Syring (OF): .330 AVG, 32 hits, 40 RBIs, .518 OBP, .588 SLG
- Ian Montz (OF): .311 AVG, 33 hits, 35 RBIs, .468 OBP, .585 SLG
- Angel Rodriguez (DH): .321 AVG, 25 hits, 30 RBIs, .495 OBP, .603 SLG

The Pilots also dominated the defensive awards with six Gold Glove selections:
