WC’s softball season ends after a loss to South Panola

VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN)—Warren Central High School’s softball season officially ended tonight after a loss to South Panola in the second round of the playoffs. The Lady Vikes fell short 13-2 against the defending state champions and wrapped up their season with a 12-15 record under Head Coach Brian Ellis.
“Overall, we didn’t have much experience this year but it was only four teams left in the north and we were one of them so that’s a good thing,” Ellis said. “We ended up gaining a lot of experience later on and we’re going to get back to the drawing board.”
The Lady Vikes earned both of their runs in the first inning when MK Ferguson scored off a passed ball and Addi Mullen nailed a single. Maddy Pant, Anzley Keen, and Kennadi Williams each ended the game with a hit. Pant struck out two batters to give her a total of 101 strikeouts on the year.
WC ended their regular season a couple of weeks ago as they finished as the No. 2 seed in the district. Before taking the loss to South Panola in the second round, the Lady Vikes defeated Saltillo twice to keep their season alive.
The Lady Vikes will graduate Williams, Whitley Parks, and Sydney Hern.

“I’m proud of the seniors for what they did and I hate to lose them because they put in a lot of work that helped us out tremendously this year,” Ellis added.
Despite taking a loss tonight, WC managed to pull off some big wins this season, including defeating everyone in their district at least once.
