VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — As part of Vicksburg’s Bicentennial celebration, the Catfish Row Museum is hosting a series of community conversations throughout the year. The next event, Vicksburg Voices, scheduled for March 22 at 2 p.m., will feature Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace. He plans to discuss his experiences in building trust within communities.

The series, Vicksburg Voices, aims to explore the city’s past and present while highlighting individuals who have shaped its development. Linda Fondren, executive director and founder of Shape Up Mississippi, described the initiative as “a project about understanding who we are as a community and how our past and present shape our future.”

The program will spotlight voices from various backgrounds, including educators, healthcare professionals, and community members whose stories reflect perseverance and hope. Events will be held at the Catfish Row Museum, which features exhibits celebrating Vicksburg’s cultural diversity. Organizers say the conversations will emphasize the significance of shared history and the impact of community engagement.
