Vicksburg’s Casey Younger to be inducted into the Millsaps College Athletics Hall of Fame

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg native Casey Younger will be inducted into the Millsaps College Athletics Hall of Fame. Younger will be inducted on Friday, Sept. 12 at the River Hills Club in Jackson.

Alongside Younger, Millsap alumni’s Hunter Abrams ’08 (Baseball), Doug Brindley ’76 (Football), Will Hall ’94 (Football), Deena Li Kam Wa ’15 (Women’s Tennis), Caroline McKey ’15 (Volleyball), Jennifer McKinley ’10 (Softball), Hunter Owen ’08 (Baseball) will also be inducted.

Younger is a 2004 graduate of Vicksburg High School where he played under Head Coach Alonzo Stevens. He led the Gators to the playoffs in each of his varsity seasons.

Younger went on to play at Millsaps where he finished his career with 180 tackles, 29 tackles-for-loss, 12 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. He is a two-time SCAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year in 2006 and 2007 while starring for the Majors on the defensive line.

In 2021, Younger was selected to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference 30th anniversary Football Team. He was also selected for the Vicksburg-Warren School District Athletics Hall of Fame in the same year.

According to Millsaps, each of the eight inductees will also be introduced during halftime of the home-opening football game, featuring Millsaps and Centenary College. Kickoff for that game on Saturday, Sept. 13 is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tickets to both events will be available and details will be announced at a later date.
