VJHS defeated Northwest Rankin; Freshmen girls fell short

Vicksburg, Miss.-Vicksburg Junior High School girls’ basketball team went on the road and defeated Northwest Rankin 26-16 on Monday.

Aaliyah Mims was the main contributor in the first half for VJHS while Keasia Hatchett also got a couple of successful shots. Up 17-4 coming out of halftime, the Missy Gators began to pick things up again as Madisyn Kimble knocked down two 3-pointers along with a few free throws. 

Kimble led with 12 points in the win and Mims added nine. Hatchett scored four points while Alaina Williams put up two points and Rocsie Stewart hit a free throw.

The Missy Gators will play Warren Central on Wednesday at WCHS.

Ninth Grade:

The VHS freshmen girls took a close 41-37 loss. The Missy Gators were down by 12 points in the second half but quickly made a comeback. Zion Knox led VHS with 14 points and Layla Johnson scored seven. Zaria Jones added six points while Jaleia Irvin put up eight and Riyah Williams scored two points.
