A special acknowledgment goes to Aidan Lumpkin, who earned a 2nd-place finish in the 100m dash with a time of 10.99. This performance marks a personal record and is especially commendable as it comes following a moderate injury sustained at the Gator Invitational in March. His perseverance and commitment to the process are a testament to his character and work ethic.

We would like to extend special recognition to two outstanding 8th-grade athletes who competed at the varsity 6A level and placed among the top five in their respective events—an impressive accomplishment given the high level of competition across the region. Gunner Ferguson earned a 3rd-place finish in the 3200m run with a time of 11:56.10, advancing to the North State Meet next Saturday at Canton High School. Derrijye Wince placed 5th in the high jump with a mark of 5-08.00, finishing just one place shy of advancement in an event where only the top four qualify.

We also congratulate Mitchell Lewis, Edward Mazie, and Will Bates for securing 2nd-place finishes in their respective events, continuing to demonstrate consistency and excellence at a high level of competition.

Notable team performances from the meet include Aidan Lumpkin – 2nd place, 100m dash (10.99); Mitchell Lewis – 2nd place, 110m hurdles (15.11); 3rd place, 300m hurdles (42.88); Edward Mazie – 2nd place, 300m hurdles (42.37); 5th place, triple jump (40-01.00); Will Bates – 2nd place, 3200m run (10:49.74); Braden Cooper – 5th place, discus (112-02); and Jaylen Defrance – 4th place, high jump (5-10.00).

In relay team results, the 4x800m Relay placed 4th (Cedarius Allen, Vernon Summers, Mattox Williams, Jacob Byrd). The 4x100m Relay placed 5th (Xavier Jackson, Aidan Lumpkin, Rodney Ford, Javid Scott). The 4x200m Relay placed 5th (Xavier Jackson, Michael Hubbard, Rodney Ford, Javid Scott). The 4x400m Relay placed 5th (Bryson Truitt, William Sanders, Kendrell Valentine, Rodney Ford).

“I am extremely proud of this group of young men for their commitment and growth throughout the season,” Head Coach Corey Wilson said. “Week by week, they have continued to improve, compete, and come together as one unit. While this marks the end of the season for some, it has been rewarding to watch them develop into true competitors at the state level. We look forward to continuing our postseason success at the North State Meet.”
