Warren Central claims three first-place finishes at JPS meet

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Warren Central High School’s track and field team captured three first-place finishes at the JPS Meet.

On the girls side, Arrionna Jenkins led the way with a first-place finish in the discus with a throw of 113 feet, 7 inches. The Lady Vikes also earned a runner-up finish in the 4×100-meter relay as the team of Mere Smith, A. Ward, K. Ward and Ka’Ryn Henderson posted a time of 50.97 seconds.

Kayla Parson delivered a solid distance showing, placing second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:52.14 and third in the 1600 meters at 6:36.13. Madison Ward added a second-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 34-11, while also placing fourth in the 100-meter hurdles. Henderson secured second in the high jump with a mark of 4-10.

On the boys side, Will Bates and Mitchell Lewis each claimed first-place finishes. Bates won the 3200 meters in 10:53.47 and finished second in the 1600 meters with a time of 4:59.84. Lewis took the top spot in the 110-meter hurdles, clocking in at 15.04 seconds.

  • Edward Mazie: Second place in the 300-meter hurdles (42.76); fourth place in the 110-meter hurdles
  • Kenneth Jaylen Woods: Third place in the shot put
  • Jaylen DeFrance: Third place in the high jump
  • Boys 4×100-meter relay: Third place (43.82)
