WC ends a 10-year streak as they defeated Neshoba Central 10-6 on Tuesday

VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN)—A 10-year losing streak is over for the Warren Central High School softball team as the Lady Vikes defeated Neshoba Central for the first time in a decade in regional play. The Lady Vikes pulled off a 10-6 win on Tuesday which marked a huge district win for WC.
After MK Ferguson hit a double in the first inning, the game was going just as WC needed it to go. Maddy Pant then hit an RBI and Kennadi Williams smashed a double to give the Lady Vikes their second run as they went up 2-0.
By the top of the fourth, Neshoba Central took the 6-2 lead. By the end of the fourth, the score was tied at 6-6 after Sydney Hern hit a home run while Ferguson and KeKe McKay hit RBIs.
The fifth inning would be the key to the win for WC as they added the final four runs. Addi Mullen, Anzley Keen, and Hern all loaded the bases then Mary Clell Allred earned a walk that got WC’s seventh run. Ferguson then hit a 2-run single and McKay followed up with the final RBI single that pushed the score to 10-6.
Pant took care of the remaining of the game as she finished with five strikeouts in the win.
Ferguson(3 RBIs) and Mullen each had two hits while Hern(2 RBIs), Allred(1 RBI), Keen, Williams(1 RBI), Pant(1 RBI), and McKay(1 RBI) all had one hit.
The Lady Vikes are now 5-1 in district play as they sit in first place after the win. They will host Ridgeland on Thursday and travel to play Riverside on Friday.
