Warren Central High School football team came away with a 21-14 win in a scrimmage against Northwest Rankin on Friday night.

The Vikings got on the scoreboard first after an interception by Ricky Neal which set up a 10-yard touchdown run from Gavin Davenport. Jonah Artman hit the extra point to put the score at 7-0.

It didn’t take long for the Cougars to respond as Mykell Smith threw a touchdown pass to put the score at 7-7. Before the end of the first quarter, Sophomore quarterback Nash Morgan connected with Maddox Lynch on an 18-yard touchdown pass to put WC up 14-7 after Artman’s extra point.

Once the second half rolled around, WC committed some defensive penalties that benefited the Cougars as Jeremy Hadden scored from a two-yard run to tie the game at 14-14.

The Vikings maintained their composure and put the game away after Morgan broke out for a 28-yard touchdown run. With Artman’s extra point, WC took home the 21-14 win.

The Vikings will host Clinton next Friday.
