WC freshmen defeated VHS in the final seconds on Wednesday.

Vicksburg, Miss.-Warren Central High School’s ninth-grade boys’ basketball team defeated Vicksburg High 58-57 in the final seconds of the game. As VHS was leading 57-56 with 10 seconds left in the game, WC managed to get the ball in the hands of Jaylen DeFrance who scored the game-winning points. 

Jamal Washington was instrumental in the win for WC as he finished with 17 points and DeFrance added 16. Landen Burks also scored double digits for the Vikings by finishing with 13 points. Jordan Pugh and Mar’Taveon Sims both had six points each while Trystan Fuller scored two points and Xavier Jackson hit a free throw.

For VHS, Jaylen Stewart and Corbin Walker both scored 16 points each while Jayden Stewart and Deonta Selvy Jr. added eight. Jordan Cruthirds put up five points and M. Cook ended the night with four points.
