WC pulled off a 51-45 win over PG

Warren Central finished on top in a hard fought battle with Port Gibson High School as they took home a 51-45 win.

Teryn Green and Gaylon Turner Jr. both hit a couple of shots early on to give WC a 13-10 first quarter lead. Kam Brown and Jaylen Hill helped PG keep the game tight. By halftime, the Vikings was up 24-17 when Roosevelt Harris Jr got in a few layups while Larry Reynolds Jr. got a nasty block. Hill, C. Johnson and Brown all got on the board in the second quarter for the Blue Waves.

The Vikings had a tough time attempting to score coming out of halftime while Markel Derby knocked down a 3-pointer for PG. Both teams went back and forth in the final quarter and the Vikings’ lead slipped away as the score sat at 40-39. Brown continued to keep PG in the game while Turner contributed from the free throw line as WC took home the win.

Turner led with 20 points while Harris scored nine and Green added eight. Brown put up 17 for PG and Derby scored nine.
