Vicksburg native Ryan Nelson selected for MLB Draft League

Vicksburg native Ryan Nelson has been selected to play in the MLB Draft League with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in Niles, Ohio.

Nelson will compete in the league this summer leading up to the 2026 MLB Draft in July.

The standout sophomore recently completed his final season at East Central Community College, where he finished with a .410 batting average, 68 hits, 11 home runs and 51 RBIs. East Central also advanced to the NJCAA World Series.

In October, Nelson signed to continue his baseball career at the University of Oklahoma.
