VICKSBURG, Miss. – The Warren Central High School (WC) volleyball team defeated Vicksburg in four sets on Thursday night to finish with a district win.

“I felt like we played like we were supposed to in the first set but VHS came out and fought hard as well,” WC Volleyball Head Coach Matthew Gullett said.

Thursday consisted of a hard-fought battle between both teams going back and forth throughout the night. The Lady Vikes secured the first set with a score of 25-15. That failed to discourage the Missy Gators as they bounced back and took the 25-17 win in set two.

In set three, WC and VHS were tied up with each other a total of six times. The Lady Vikes eventually took the 25-23 win. WC pulled off the victory as well in the final set to take it all(25-14).

Although VHS took a loss, VHS Volleyball Coach Linda Johnson was pleased with their performance.

“For the most part they came out and fought hard but playing WC always motivates us to go harder,” Johnson said.

WC will travel to play Callaway on Tuesday, and VHS will host Neshoba Central on Tuesday.
