WCJHS boys’ basketball team defeated VJHS on Monday

Warren Central Junior High School boys’ basketball team grabbed a 45-20 win over Vicksburg Junior High in Monday’s season opener.

Henry Trisby and Jared Williams both hit some early shots to start the game as the Vikings went up 7-4 in the first quarter as Antwon Chiplin knocked down a 3-pointer for VJHS. WCJHS took over completely in the second quarter as Williams popped a 3-pointer along with a couple of more shots while Braylen Selvy and Ja’Ven Lee made it to the basket for layups as they went up 22-6 at halftime.

Chiplin scored 10 points in the third quarter for VJHS but WC maintained their lead after Trisby and Selvy both kept team afloat. Lee, Williams, and John Ringold all contributed some late points that secured the win for the Vikings.

Williams led WC to win 13 points and Lee added 12. Selvy scored nine points in the win and Trisby put up six. Ringold scored three points and Jordan Taylor hit two free throws.

For VJHS, Chiplin led with 15 points while D. Washington and D. Martin both scored two points. C. Cable hit a free throw.

7th grade game:

The WCJHS seventh-grade boys won 18-12 over VJHS where Michael Banks Jr. led with eight points. Richard Albert and Jaiden Jones both scored four points each for WC while Jaylon Edwards scored two points.

For VJHS, Payton Walker scored five points and Martin hit a 3-pointer. M. Magee and C. Anderson both had two points.
