WCJHS defeats VJHS; VHS Freshman girls defeat WC

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — WCJHS defeated Vicksburg Junior High, and Vicksburg High School’s freshman girls’ basketball team earned a narrow 27–25 victory over Warren Central on Monday night at Warren Central High School.

9th grade:

K. Hatchett led the Missy Gators with 10 points, while N. Truitt, K. Cooper and R. Stewart each added five. M. Atkinson chipped in two points to round out the scoring.

For Warren Central, D’Mariyah Cobbs paced the Lady Vikes with nine points. Tyra Williams and Madelyn Wallace scored four points apiece, and Keonna Jones and Armani Marley each added three.

The game stayed close from start to finish, with both teams battling through defensive pressure in the final minutes before Vicksburg secured the two-point win.

8th grade girls:

The WCJHS eighth grade girls won 31-11 over WCJHS. Skyla Cosby scored 12 points for the Lady Vikes and Jornei Lane added 11 points. Laney Bennett put up four points while Layla Walker and Amelia Jackson each scored two points.

For VJHS, Payton Williams scored four points while Kamya Wilson added three. Kadyn Richards and Erien Hall each scored two points
