Willie Mae Boatwright Sanders: 1933-2025

VICKSBURG, Miss. — Willie Mae Boatwright Sanders, age 91, beloved mom, grandmother and aunt passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 surrounded by love and family members.
Born on October 23, 1933 in Carraway, AR to George Monroe Boatwright and Mayfield Madison Boatwright. Willie spent her life taking care of others. She gave her all to everyone. She was a seamstress, CAN at Sydney House, Restaurant owner/manager, laundry worker at Vicksburg Medical Center, but most of all a devoted mother, grandmother and aunt. Wille was a friend to everyone she met.
She is preceded in death by both parents; a brother, Morgan Boatwright of Vicksburg; husband, William “Bill” Sanders of Kosciusko; son, Ronald Lee Smith of Kosciusko; two daughters, Mary Ann James (infant), Mollie Mae James Barrentine of Kosciusko; grandson, Aaron Caleb Ezra Brown of Vicksburg.
Wille is survived by four daughters, Georgia McBroom (Joe) of Vicksburg, Deborah James of Port Gibson, Kathy Smith Brown, Donna Walding (Gary) of Baytown, TX; three step-children, Mitzi Kent (Danny) of Vicksburg, Kevin Sanders (Kelli) of Vicksburg, Kim Landers (Kenny) of Utica; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.
A special thank you to Erin Hines, NP at Claiborne County Hospital and the nurses and CNA’s that took such loving care of our mom the short time she was there.
There will be a graveside gathering at Cedar Hill Cemetery on Saturday, May 24 at 3 p.m. for any family or friends that wish to pay respect or share any memories of Willie Mae.
