You should be as proud of our Lady Vikes as anything in our shared history

On a beautiful Tuesday evening with calm skies, an even calmer breeze, and a packed parking lot, the Lady Vikes showed a competitive spirit that would make your grandfather and his grandfather proud.
In the third game of a three-game series, our Warren County Lady Vikes faced a highly skilled and well-coached group of competitors out of Grenada, Mississippi. The gang from Grenada was strong, competitive, and as tough as it gets. Their pitcher didn’t miss a single pitch. The catcher didn’t let anything get past her, and not a single error was made in the field. Defensively, Grenada couldn’t have done much more to win this game.
The calls were what they were
They even had a couple of game-changing calls go their way, including one that most umpires would let go of on the side of caution, knowing it would change the game’s outcome.
Regardless, our Lady Vikes fought back. They fought again after a highly questionable strike call ended the next inning. Again, when Grenada scored, our Vikes answered. Then, one more time, our Vikes were challenged, and they responded and decided they had enough and took the win. They won because they were the better team with the bigger heart that Tuesday night, and they left no doubt about it. They beat the odds, the highly skilled players from Grenada who have nothing to be ashamed of, and the umpires who seemed determined to keep victory from our Lady Vikes.
Our Vikes shook off the bad vibes and motivation killers after a questionable game-changing call and then again after the next questionable game-changing call. The strength they showed to overcome that kind of opposition is rare and only seen in true winners. Winners that will win regardless of the field, organization, or situation. On a Tuesday night in Vicksburg on Lucy Young’s immaculate field, the highest qualities of competition, grit, determination, and never-say-die persevered and overcame all obstacles. It was done by a bunch of teenage girls from Warren County, Mississippi, and you should be as proud of them as you’ve ever been of anything in our shared history.
Champions find a way to win regardless of the obstacles
Well done, champs. Let’s play again on Thursday. Kick some South Panaola butt.
If you want to see some real-world champions and even get a chance to cheer them on, you can travel to Batesville on Thursday for the South Panola game at 5, or you can come on out on Saturday at 3 p.m. when our real-world champions, the Warren Central Lady Vikes, play South Panola at the Lucy Young field.
