15-year-old shot and killed in Mississippi on Christmas Eve

A 50-year-old has been arrested for the murder of a 15-year-old in Lauderdale County, Mississippi. The fatal shooting happened on Christmas Eve which resulted in the arrest of Joseph Spinks of Toomsuba. The deceased has been identified as 15-year-old Treyvone Young who was a student at Northeast Lauderdale High School.

Spinks was taken into custody on Wednesday and was booked into the Lauderdale County Detention Facility on a murder charge. Two other people were also injured in the shooting and Spinks now faces two attempted murder charges.

The incident happened around 7:10 p.m. in the 9500 block of Northeast Cole Road where three people were shot. 

Young was just one day shy of turning 16 years old at the time of his death. He played football and baseball at Northeast Lauderdale High School.
