5000 Without Power
Almost 5000 people in Vicksburg and Warren County remain without power this morning.
A powerful thunderstorm hit Vicksburg and Warren County last night around 9 p.m. Reports started coming in almost immediately of trees and power lines falling down in the strong winds.
As the storm progressed Eagle Lake lost power entirely, areas of Vicksburg and Warren County started reporting high winds with residents on Fisher Ferry past Yorktown reporting swirling winds and pressure pops on their windows.
In the city, Cherry Street was littered with branches, limbs and trash cans that were blown into the roadway by the strong winds. Power went out in several locations around the city. Vicksburg Fire Fighters arrived to find the residents safely out of the structure and a smell of smoke from the power lines taken down by the tree and wind.
