St. Aloysius made a crucial comeback to defeat Park Place 7-6 on Thursday.

The Flashes didn’t get on the board until the second inning once Barrett Shows hit a double which was followed by a hit from Walt Andrews as St. Al went up 1-0. The Crusaders were able to regain control after a couple of doubles that gave them the 3-1 lead.

A walk and a single added two more runs to Park Place’s lead. St. Al’s Carson Smith hit a double in the fourth which set up an RBI from Andrews that put the score at 5-2.

In the fifth inning, the Crusaders scored from a passed ball while Laken Bradley and Smith brought in RBIs to narrow Park Place’s lead to 6-4.

By the seventh inning, the Flashes were in desperate need when Damien Reeves and Bradley both hit singles that set up a two-run single by Smith to tie the game at six. A ground ball from Shows is what sealed the 7-6 victory as they improved to 3-6 on the year.

Freshman Keller Bradley stuck out eight batters and only allowed one hit while Smith(3 RBIs) and Laken(1RBI) both went 3 for 4 at the plate. Andrews had two RBIs while he and Clark Hobson, Reeves, and Shows all had one hit.

The Flashes will travel to play Central Hinds on Friday.
