Warren Central Junior High Cheer Squad earns multiple first-place honors at UCA Camp

The Warren Central Junior High Cheer Squad brought home multiple first-place awards and special honors after attending the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) Cheer Camp at Mississippi State University earlier this week.

The camp was held June 13-16 and featured teams from across the region. On the final day of competition, Warren Central competed against six other junior high squads in a division of seven teams.

Under the direction of Coach Shawn, the 18-member squad turned in a strong performance and earned first-place finishes in cheer, dance and spirit. The team also captured the Overall Junior High Traditional Award and collected three Spirit Sticks during the camp.

The team’s awards included:

  • First Place — Cheer
  • First Place — Dance
  • First Place — Spirit
  • Overall Junior High Traditional Award
  • Three Spirit Sticks

Several individual cheerleaders also received special recognition.

Five squad members were selected as All-Americans, an honor that recognizes outstanding cheerleaders for their performance and leadership. Those selected were Ameris Owen, Blakely Ferguson, Cambria Fuller, Chloe Harris and Hadley Parker.

Four cheerleaders earned the Pin-It Forward Award, which recognizes leadership, sportsmanship and positive attitudes throughout the camp. Recipients were DaKeyvianna Walker, Taylor Carson, Caleigh Whitley and Blakely Ferguson.

The successful showing capped off a strong week for the Warren Central Junior High Cheer Squad as the team returned home with numerous awards and individual honors from the annual UCA camp.
