No exit to Love’s: Ceres bridge closing for weekend repairs
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Ceres Boulevard bridge (Exit 15) will be closed from 7 a.m. Saturday, July 12 until 10 a.m. Monday, July 14, as Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) crews perform concrete resurfacing work.
“We’re going to shut down the road that goes over that to perform a thin-lift concrete overlay on top of that bridge, so I-20 will remain open,” MDOT spokesperson Michael Flood told WLBT. “However, I-20 eastbound traffic will not be able to exit there to get to the Love’s. Westbound traffic will still be able to exit. If you’re heading eastbound, you need to use one of the other exits.”
MDOT said the resurfacing is being done in response to increased traffic in the area. While acknowledging that the closure may impact commutes, the department has advised alternate routes.
Flood recommended the Edwards exit for westbound travelers and the Bovina exit for eastbound traffic.
Edit: The closure will begin Saturday July 12 at 7 a.m. according to the MDot website.
